Written by Jen Quirk

Dwell offers a wide variety of background music and sounds to accompany your time in the Word. Here's how to find, preview, and set your favorites.

Previewing and Downloading Music

To browse available options, tap the settings gear icon in the top left corner of your screen, then tap App Personalization → Background Music. From there you can:

  • Tap the play button to the left of any option to preview it.

  • Tap the downward arrow on the right to download a soundtrack for offline listening.

Available Categories

  • Music: Curated musical options including Ambient, Hymns, Piano, and Guitar.

  • Immersive: Ambient soundscapes like City, Garden, Sure Sounds, and more.

  • Sounds: Nature and ambient sounds like Rain, Waterfall, Waves, and Brown Noise.

Changing Music While Listening

You have two ways to adjust your background music during playback:

  1. Tap the slider button at the bottom of your screen, then select Background Music (the second item in the list) to make your changes.

  2. Tap the music button on the player itself to quickly swap your music settings on the fly.

Seeing What's Currently Playing

While listening, tap the music button in the player that displays your current music selection. This pulls up a menu showing the track that's currently playing.

If you're not a fan of a particular track, tap the thumbs down icon to remove it from rotation.

💡 Pro Tip: Download your favorite tracks ahead of time so they're ready for offline listening, no wifi required.
