Getting started as a church plan Admin

How to get started as the Admin of your Dwell church plan

Written by Jen Quirk

As a church plan admin, you have powerful tools to manage your congregation's Dwell experience, from creating custom content to managing member accounts. Here's everything you need to know.

Understanding Account Roles

There are three account roles within a church plan:

  • Owner: Automatically assigned to the email that created the group account. The Owner can see and manage all aspects of the account, including billing and account settings. To transfer ownership, email [email protected] from the current owner's email address.

Pro Tip: Use a generic Admin email address so that in the event ownership changes, the email address can be accessed by anyone who works at the church.

  • Manager: Managers can create and edit your group's content, manage active contacts, send email invitations, deactivate member accounts, and view all account statuses. Managers cannot change your group's name, landing page URL, or access billing information.

  • Member: Members do not have any administrative privileges. In most cases, the majority of your active accounts will have this role.

How to Add or Change a Manager

Manager accounts allow you to give trusted people access to create content and onboard new members, while protecting critical account details like billing and login credentials.

To change someone's role:

  1. Navigate to your Contact Dashboard

  2. Locate the account you'd like to update

  3. Under "Role", click the dropdown and select the desired role

  4. When you see "Updated!" appear, your changes have been saved

How to Create Custom Content for Your Congregation

You can create custom Bible plans, playlists, and passages to share with your church directly through the Dwell website.

  1. Log into your Dwell account on the website using the master admin account associated with your church plan, not the mobile app

  2. On the dashboard, click "Create Content"

  3. Click the pink "Create Content" button

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to create a custom Playlist, Plan, or Passage for your church

How to Reactivate a Member's Account

Note: This can only be done by someone with access to the group's admin account. If you are a member who needs your account reactivated, please forward these instructions to your admin.

  1. Navigate to "Contacts"

  2. Click "Inactive" to view deactivated accounts

  3. Find the account you'd like to reactivate and click the red "Reactivate" link

  4. Once the account shows as "Active", ask the member to log back in. They'll have full access to everything in your church's account!
