Using Dwell to Memorize and Reflect on Scripture
Dwell has three features designed to help you slow down, sit with God's Word, and commit it to memory, Repeat, Selah, and Reflect.
Repeat
Repeat lets you loop a verse, chapter, or passage so you can listen to it again and again, great for memorization.
You can turn on Repeat from two places:
The player, tap the Repeat icon while listening
The options button at the bottom of your screen while listening, then toggle Repeat to the on position
You'll be prompted to choose what you'd like to repeat, select the option that fits what you're listening to.
đĄ Pro Tip: If you want to repeat a specific verse or a few verses, use the Search feature. Tap Search at the bottom of your home screen, type the verse(s) you'd like to repeat, and choose them from the results. Once you tap play, you'll see the option to repeat your selection.
Selah
Selah lets you pause the narration on the fly while the background music keeps playing, giving you a quiet moment to reflect right when you need it.
You'll find Selah in the player, tap the Selah icon while listening to pause the narration and let the background music continue. Tap Selah again to resume narration right where you left off.
Note: Selah is meant for in-the-moment pauses. If you'd rather have pauses built in automatically between verses or tracks, use Reflect instead.
Reflect
Reflect automatically inserts pauses at set points in your listening, so you always have a built-in moment to sit with what you've just heard.
You can turn on Reflect from the options button at the bottom of your screen while listening. Toggle Reflect to the on position, and you'll be prompted to choose when you'd like the audio to pause:
Between Verses inserts a pause between each verse throughout your selection
Between Tracks inserts a pause between each item in the player
Listening to a playlist? A pause will follow each track, no matter how many verses it contains
Listening to a chapter? A pause will follow each chapter
Listening to a book of the Bible? A pause will follow each book
Below the pause options, you'll find a slider to set the length of each pause, anywhere from 3 seconds to 3 minutes, giving you time to meditate and sit with what you've just heard.
Repeat, Selah, and Reflect work independently of one another, so you can use any combination depending on what suits your time with the Lord best. We've found all three to be really valuable tools for verse memorization! đ
